Third Generation HSD

Prius v is powered by Toyota's 3rd generation Hybrid Synergy Drive system putting out a combined 134 horsepower. For Prius v, HSD has been fine-tuned to improve highway and winter fuel efficiency. This includes optimized engine start/stop and Exhaust Heat Recovery for an 8.6% improvement in fuel consumption.
 

Engine Performance

Prius v engine performance has been enhanced through a series of small steps including: diagonal squish combustion chamber for improved combustion, thin and long reach ignition plug for better anti-knocking, resin intake manifold, and standing oil jet for piston cooling.

Fuel Savings & Interior Space

Prius v boasts a combined fuel efficiency rating of 4.6L/100km, besting comparable competitors such as the 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid (4.9L/100km) and 2012 Ford Escape Hybrid (6.1L/100km).* But that's only half the story. Prius v's 971L of cargo volume behind the rear seats puts the Fusion Hybrid to shame (334L) and even tops the mid-sized SUV Escape (787L).

Intelligent Parking Assist

Intelligent Parking Assist, available with the Touring + Technology Package, simplifies parking. All you do is set the parking area on the Back Monitor Display, ensure there are no obstructions and work the brakes – and let the vehicle steer itself.** Comes with two parking modes: parallel and garage.

Interior Space

Prius v offers more leg and head room than the current generation Prius. Even more impressively, Prius v matches small SUVs and mid-size station wagons when it comes to luggage space. The available Panoramic Roof allows views of the sky from both front and back seats.

Seat Flexibility

The sliding/reclining rear seat function offers passengers a more comfortable ride as well as opening up space for transporting larger objects. Four seat arrangements make for a wide variety of seating and storage options - from normal and fold down to long luggage and front flat.

Pre-Collision System

Prius v's Pre-Collision System acts as an advance warning and first responder that a frontal collision is about to take place. If the system determines that there is a high risk of a collision, it assists by adding brake hydraulic pressure and by sending signals to the pre-collision seatbelt and brake in an effort to reduce injury. Available in the Touring + Technology upgrade.

Vehicle Approach Notice

Standard on Prius v is a vehicle audible system to warn pedestrians and cyclists that a near-silent Hybrid vehicle is approaching. The system is activated if the vehicle speed is between 0 km/h and 20 km/h, if the vehicle is in EV mode, or if the shift position is not in the "P" position.
