The Tacoma’s Trail Edition receives some exciting upgrades for its latest model year, and thanks to its improved body design, it proves to be even more capable than before. It will also boast new aesthetic features that are sure to make a head-turning first impression. The Toyota Tacoma has not been redesigned since its 2016 model year, so it's fresh new look has been highly anticipated.
Additionally, this latest Trail Edition Tacoma places great emphasis on its capability as a multi-purpose vehicle. Along with updated styling, it also focuses on functionality and storage capability.
We’re still waiting on release date information, but in the meantime, we’ll share what we know so far about the Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition.
You’ll first notice that the 2022 Tacoma Trail Edition is more lifted than previous model years. It now features a 28 mm front and 13 mm rear suspension lift. Its jacked-up look showcases a bolder, more aggressive stance at first glance. But this design choice is not only for aesthetics – it’s also functional design. The new height advantage gives the Tacoma Trail Edition improved overall terrain management.
You’ll also love its updated bronze-finished 16” wheels fitted with Goodyear tires, ready to take on any road surface. The Trail Edition’s front profile features a heritage-inspired grille with unique bronze-finished lettering along the grille’s center.
The 2022 Tacoma Trail Edition is available in 2 exterior colour options: Army Green and Lunar Rock – a new option for this latest model year. Both paint options include black exterior badging and colour-keyed rear bumpers.
Finally, the Trail Edition’s lockable truck bed offers both storage and power options. You can feel confident that your cargo is secured while you’re on the road. Best of all, the driver’s side of the bed is fitted with an insulated storage compartment that can even be used as a cooler. And the truck bed is equipped with a 120V power outlet, providing you with additional power options while you’re on the road.
The Tacoma Trail Edition is now fitted with several standard comfort and convenience features to help you enjoy the drive every time. The driver’s seat is equipped with a 10-way power adjustment as well as a 2-way lumbar support. Other standard convenience features include dual-zone automatic climate control, all-weather floor liners and black fabric seating with unique tan stitching.
You can also enjoy your music and media easily, thanks to the Trail Edition’s standard 8” infotainment touchscreen, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, you’ll have a 6-speaker sound system, Bluetooth connectivity, USB media and charging ports and an integrated backup camera display.
You can be sure that the 2022 Trail Edition is ready for any on- or off-road adventure. To start, you’ll find a 2.5L V6 engine under the hood. It has an output of 278 horsepower and 265 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is also equipped with Toyota’s VVT-iW technology and Atkinson-cycle combustion. These features help to maximize vehicle efficiency. The Trail Edition will even be offered in both manual and automatic transmission types. And 4x4 capability will be the only option on the Trail Edition.
You’ll also love its towing capability. The Tacoma Tow Package comes standard on the Trail Edition. It offers a maximum towing capacity of 6,400 lbs. and it comes with great towing tools. The package includes a Class IV towing receiver hitch, engine oil cooler, transmission fluid cooler, power steering cooler, Trailer Sway Control and more.
